Established in 1986, Independent Electrical Services Ltd has been providing electrical services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients in Yellowknife and throughout the Northwest Territories. We provide a complete range of services, including electrical repairs and maintenance, commercial signs installations, service panel upgrades and more. We take pride in serving various customers, including the government, general contractors, development companies, sign companies, local businesses, and homeowners. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, we continue our legacy with our energetic, hands-on management.

ABOUT THE MANAGEMENT

Shirley Coumont owns the business along with her two sons. She has a diploma in Management Studies and a certificate in Secretarial Science with a major in Accounting. Shirley runs the office with over 30 years of experience in administrative support. This complements Kyle Coumont’s skills and completes their partnership.

Kyle Coumont has worked for over 10 years as an electrician. He has good people skills, troubleshooting skills, and a good technical knowledge of the industry.

HISTORY OF OUR BUSINESS

Our full-service electrical company is well established with a reputation for quality service and competitive pricing. In the past, we have maintained contracts with the Government of the N.W.T., Stanton Regional Hospital, and the Department of National Defence. Our special years:

In 1994, Shirley went to Ottawa to receive the Young Entrepreneur Award of the Year
In 1995, Independent Electrical Services Ltd was incorporated

We have developed a vast experience working in camps throughout the North. Independent Electrical Services Ltd is also an agent of Pattison Sign Group, which supplies most of the neon signs in Yellowknife.

We employ only safe, productive, and highly motivated employees to refine our human management skills. At present, we have certified electricians and apprentices on staff.
